Admissions

Students entering the Applied Science graduate program usually have had an undergraduate concentration in a natural science, mathematics, or engineering discipline. Each applicant is required to submit the results of the general test and one subject test from the Graduate Record Examinations. Students from non-English speaking countries must also submit TOEFL scores. Applications must be completed by 5:00 p.m. the first Friday of February for entrance into the department Fall semester. Spring semester applications must be completed by 5:00 p.m. the second Friday in October.

The graduate catalog and links to complete an on-line application can be found HERE.  Information about specific research areas can be requested by clicking HERE or preferably by emailing directly those faculty whose research is most of interest.  Prospective students are welcome to visit the Department and meet with faculty and students. We encourage you to contact a faculty member in advance to arrange a meeting or lab tour.

Visitor parking passes are available for $3 per day from the Parking Services office or parking is available in the lots around Merchants Square near the Ancient Campus. A campus map (1.1 MB pdf file) may be downloaded, or hard copies obtained from Parking Services. The Applied Science main office is in McGlothlin-Street Hall, building 51 on the campus map. It can be reached by walking up Jamestown Rd., turning onto Landrum Dr., cutting between Landrum and Chandler Halls, and walking downhill to the back of McGlothlin-Street Hall. A scenic route from Merchants Square is to walk through the Wren Building and down the left side of the Sunken Garden. Applied Science is on the third floor of the third building on the left side of  the Sunken Garden.
